In Lacey most of the homes are part of an HOA, Homeowners Association. We pay dues to the HOA annually and it maintains the neighborhood’s standards. Since the changes in policing laws as a result of George Floyd’s death, this is even more important. Police no longer respond to homeowner or neighbor disputes. That means HOAs are cracking down on street parking since most HOAs don’t allow street parking. Fines for street parking can be as much as $175.
Well, there’s an easy solution to that. If you find that your driveway isn’t large enough for your vehicles, create a gravel parking space. We call those “cutouts“. If you drive through Lacey you will see a lot of gravel cutouts for vehicles at the street level. They cut into the homeowners property and provide them extra parking for guests. But you can also build these cutouts closer to your home. It’s the perfect solution for boats, trailers, or older vehicles you don’t regularly drive.
